“Land Sea Sky – A Sublime Focus” by Dane Beesley

Tsunami Magazine, Page 40, July 2006, Chapter# 78

Local artist Benjamin Werner opens his new solo show of paintings on the Sunshine Coast in July/August, the show focuses on the unique coastal landscape exploring concepts of the sublime and beautiful.

The exhibition balances touches of the urban and suburban environment with classic storm scapes that hover perilously over the silhouetted skyline of local buildings, signage, pine trees and telephone poles. The outlines of locals talking while watching the sunrise or out walking their dogs all hold close associations to the coastal lifestyle.

Werner has spent his time growing up between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane where he now resides and paints in his studio in the Valley, getting up early to sketch or photograph while most are tucked up in bed.

The works will have a special showing at the Sajen Legal Office’s throughout July as part of an initiative to promote outstanding local artists achievements. Sajen Legal is also proud partner of the inaugural Sunshine Coast Art Prize held in conjunction with the Caloundra City Council in August.

Exhibition will be open to the public from August 18th at Passionfruit Gallery, Maroochydore, with dinner at Bica Restaurant. For details on tickets or to view works before opening contact www.benjaminwerner.com.
